“In my classroom, every equation begins with a question.”
— Ms. Bien-Aimé

“I believe mathematics is a language of imagination and design, and when children learn to speak it early, they learn to think freely for life.”
I didn’t stumble into teaching — I chose it.
Five years supporting students with disabilities was my apprenticeship in empathy, precision, and intellectual care. It was where I learned that teaching isn’t instruction — it’s translation, curiosity, and design. That foundation shaped the educator I became — one who teaches thinking, not worksheets.
While I’ve taught across all core subjects, mathematics is where my heart and curiosity meet. I study math as a language — a way of seeing patterns, meaning, and beauty in the world. I integrate the humanities, philosophy, and technology to help students read problems like texts, model ideas like designers, and defend reasoning like scholars.
Now extending my work into high school education, I continue to explore how adolescents think critically and communicate conceptually across math and ELA, where many face their greatest academic challenges.
My approach is deeply Socratic. Every problem is an invitation to question what we know, why it matters, and how it connects to the world. You’ll see this in my students’ work: they investigate through dialogue, defend their ideas, and move between logic, ethics, and creativity — all inside mathematics.
My curriculum grows organically from lived culture and student voice. From FLIP N SIP to Exploring Math Through Movies, I design lessons that turn abstract concepts into real-world exploration. Even rational numbers become meaningful when applied to streaming platforms, payout rates, and real-world decision-making.
My mission is to make mathematics accessible through creativity, gaming, AI, and literacy — cultivating curiosity, confidence, and intellectual identity in every learner.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Education — but my greatest education has come from listening to, observing, and learning alongside my students.
“Teaching as inquiry. Mathematics as philosophy. Learning as liberation.”
— Ms. Bien-Aimé
